We kicked off September with a “Coming Soon” post to create hype and anticipation for something special — and we weren’t kidding! This was the start of our Urology Awareness Month, a celebration designed to educate, engage, and inspire our carers while promoting the importance of urological health and hydration.
This September, our company proudly embraced the initiative with a range of exciting activities. Then we shared a detailed Urology Month plan with our carers, setting the tone for a month full of creativity, learning, and friendly competition. Each week brought something unique — from fun challenges to interactive learning sessions.

Collaborating with the Urology Foundation
We were delighted to collaborate with The Urology Foundation, a charity dedicated to improving urological care. They generously provided us with branded t-shirts to support the cause. We encouraged our staff to wear purple — the colour representing urology awareness and asked them to send us pictures to show their support. Seeing everyone join in was inspiring and helped create a sense of unity throughout the month from all 3 branches.

Week 1 — Hydration Selfie Challenge
Our first week was all about hydration! We encouraged our carers to take selfies while enjoying their water break and asked them to send it to us. These cheerful snapshots were shared on Facebook and our WhatsApp group, spreading positive energy across the team. Those who consistently participated were rewarded with a special gift as a thank-you for promoting healthy hydration habits.

Week 2 — Quiz Day
In week two, we tested our carers’ knowledge with a daily quiz. The quizzes were posted on WhatsApp and Facebook, and carers competed to send in correct answers first. Quick thinkers and keen learners won prizes for their efforts — a fun way to combine learning with healthy competition.
Week 3 — Word Search Challenge
Week three was a puzzle-packed adventure! Carers received a custom word search puzzle related to urology and wellness. The puzzle was posted on WhatsApp and Facebook, and the fastest responders who submitted correct answers received a prize. It was a great way to blend fun with awareness.

Week 4 — Urology Awareness Session
Our final week featured an informative session with Wareessha Amin, a registered nurse from Bradford Royal Hospital. The one-hour session covered essential topics
such as:
▪ Kidney functions
▪ Male and female urinary tract anatomy
▪ Understanding urinary tract infections (UTIs)
▪ Causes and prevention of UTIs and catheter-associated infections
▪ Types of catheters
▪ Hydration and fluid intake
▪ Monitoring fluid input/output
▪ Urine colour and its significance
▪ Dehydration, sepsis, and UTI prevention
▪ What to do if a UTI is suspected
▪ Staff resources and best practices
This engaging session gave carers a deeper understanding of urological health and practical tips to improve patient care.

Keeping Hydration Top of Mind
Throughout September, we also sent regular reminders and messages to our staff about the importance of staying hydrated — because caring for others starts with caring for yourself.
We are proud to have made September a month of learning, connection, and wellbeing. By celebrating Urology Awareness Month together and collaborating with
The Urology Foundation, we strengthened both our team spirit and our commitment to informed, compassionate care.
